Material Handler

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
This is manual labor work in the operation of a warehouse and its associated processing equipment. Work involves responsibility for stock control, storage, distribution, processing and receipt of inventory. The work requires some degree of independent action and judgment operating under well defined written policies and procedures. Performs under the direct supervision of the shift supervisor at the direction of the plant superintendent and general manager. This is a non-supervisory position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Review pick tickets and correctly identify, grades, sizes, and RT#s to be picked. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.

  2. Identify on AS400 computer system correct locations of specified material. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.

  3. Use of appropriate tools or procedures to obtain materials by use of side-loader, crane, forklift, or other device specific to the location, or manually by lifting up to 100 pounds. This duty is performed daily, about 20% of the time.

  4. Use of standard or unique-to-location devices to package material for shipment to standard or customer-specific requirement. This duty is performed daily, about 20% of the time.

  5. Move materials to proper staging locations for material to be loaded onto delivery trucks. This duty is performed daily, about 20% of the time.

  6. Correctly document on pick-tickets all information required by standard or location-specific procedures. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.

  7. Maintain work area cleanliness and safety. This duty is performed daily.

  8. Attendance at work daily. Be on time daily.

  9. Complete training requirements. This duty is performed monthly, about 10% of the time.


Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Mental alertness and adaptability to office and field area work routines. Equivalent to four years high school, with particular emphasis during high school in office skills, shop skills, or others, plus up to six months related experience or training. Equivalent combination of education and experience are also acceptable.
Hiring for 2nd (3pm-11:30pm) & 3rd shift (11pm-7:30am) Training on 1st (7am-3pm) for 3-4 weeks then transition to your shift!

Wage $16.50 per hour
